Is also marked promo, but is only a JB issue, not sent out as a promo to radio stations, only JB circulation. There is an occasional similarity with UK JB issues.
Input from other users, Italian or otherwise would be appreciated :) That doesn't prohibit me from questioning practices that I don't understand though.Īgain: I'm not necessarily saying that you're wrong but I have yet to see any solid reasoning behind your statements to convince me that you're right ) I happily concede that my knowledge of the Italian record industry is vastly inferior to yours ladrodipolli and no-one can dispute the time and effort you put into this database. I don't think that such an argument would be made on a release from a different country (would it?) so why does it apply specifically to Italian ones? You also say that it isn't a "Special Edition" but only because it also says "Juke-box" You, however, seem to say that it isn't a Promo only becauseī) other, non-related releases have different wording Many would also assume that the printed text "Edizione Speciale" meant that this release was, well. I think it would be fair to assume that most (non-Italian?) people who looked at the following label would consider it a Promo release: What matters is what is written in the label center, not in the catalog number. I think it's safe to say that I don't understand, please don't take it personally :) Sorry, you understand or do you not understand? This tag should only be used where it is clear the item was released as such, for example it is explicitly mentioned on the release, or by the label, artist, or other reliable source. Promo - Any item labelled as being released for promotional purposes, including advance copies sent out to promote a retail release. Promo: The word "Promo" (or variations thereof) isn't explicitly printed so these releases couldn't really be considered promotional or advance copies but is the wording "Not for sale to the public" enough to validate the Promo tag? Special Edition S/Edition Only items that have this printed on them somewhere (stickers etc), or were originally marketed by the label as such, should be tagged as 'Special Edition'.Ģ. Relevant "guideline" (from the Formats List): Special Edition: It literally says this on the label, is that justification enough for using the S/E tag or does the inclusion of Jukebox cancel out this tag? Jukebox is obviously valid but what about Special Edition and/or Promo?ġ. There's some disagreement it seems as to which format tags are applicable to such releases so I'm hoping to clear this up in this thread. One major "target" for this new tag is the plethora of Italian releases that were made specifically for jukeboxes.Ī large amount of them have the text " Edizione Speciale per Juke-box" ("Special edition for jukeboxes") printed on the labels.Ī large amount of those also have the printed text " Vietata la vendita al pubblico" ("Prohibited for sale to the public") The Jukebox tag has been entered to the Format list.
